The
College of Taxation and Public Finance Administration
was originally established in 1987 as Finance and Revenue
Department with the strong support from former Guangdong
Revenue Bureau, and began to enroll new students from
that year, the department was renamed Revenue Department
in 1988 and then changed into Finance and Tax Department
in 1999. In addition to the Public Finance Specialty,
the Department introduced two new specialties, i.e.,
Public Affairs Management Specialty and Public Administration
Specialty in 2002, and was enlarged to become the College
of Taxation and Public Finance Administration.
In the college,
there are 31 staff members, among them there are 8 professors,
10 associate professors, 10 doctors and PhD candidates.
In recent years, more than 30 research projects in different
areas were acquired by teachers of the college, which
includes one National Philosophical and Social Science
Foundation Project and three provincial projects. The
college’s publications include 212 academic theses,
29 of which have been published in key journals such
as Public Finance Research, Tax Research, Finance and
Taxation, one monograph, one translated works, and eight
compiled books.
The college
now has 963 students who study in Public Finance Specialty,
Administration Specialty and Public Administration Specialty.
Up to July, 2004, the number of the graduated students
in the successive 16 years was 2759, most of them becoming
elites in the governmental departments of taxation,
customs and public security. By exerting their knowledge
and energy, they contribute greatly to the economic
construction and social development, especially in the
social and economical development of Guangdong. The
college strives to provide the society with professionals
of good quality, strong ability, good coordination and
communication skill, and full of creative spirit. The
students of the college have good spirit, and are studious,
self-disciplined, spirited, original, practical, and
aggressive.
