The
Department of Law of GUBS was established in 1993 and
began to recruit students in the same year. Renamed
the College of Law, now it has the most full-time undergraduates
and the most full-time teachers among the colleges of
law in Guangdong province. Among the 70 full-time teachers,
16 are professors and 19 are associate professors, 12
of whom are doctoral holders. Now there are about 1,600
students on campus and more than 1,500 graduates in
the past 8 years of graduation since 1997 have entered
into the society, among whom about 30% have entered
public security bureaus, procuratorial organs, courts
of justice and judicial organs, about 14% have come
into administrative organs, and the rest have entered
large-scale corporations and enterprises or become full-time
lawyers. Graduates from the College of Law have become
popular among public security bureaus, procuratorial
organs, courts of justice, judicial organs, all levels
of administrative organs and all circles in society.
The college
now owns two undergraduate specialties--- science of
law and science of public security and four master programs---
constitution and administrative law, procedure law,
theories of law and civil and commercial law (including
laboring law and social security law), among which constitution
and administrative law is one of the key provincial
specialties. The Specialty of Science of Law belongs
to the first “brand specialties” of the same specialty
in Guangdong province. Law and economic development
laboratory is one of the key provincial humanities and
social science research bases. Moreover, the specialty
and subject construction of the college plays an important
role in the science of law education in the whole province.
