The College of Information was established in 2001 and was formed on the basis of amalgamation of the department of information, the computer center and the modern educational technology center. After only 5 years of great development, this college now consists of the departments of computer, software engineering, information, electronic commerce and the computer center. With the area of more than 1,000 , the labs include the base lab, the lab of electronic commerce, the lab of software engineering, the integrated lab of information system. Among the 54 full-time teachers in the college, 3 are professors, 20 are associate professors, 5 are doctoral holders, 6 are PHD candidates and 33 have master’s degree.
        In the recent five years the staff members have had 140 theses published in authoritative periodicals such as Chinese Journal of Computers, Journal of Computer Aided Design & Computer Graphics (CAD & CG) and Lecture Notes in Computer Science or international conferences. 8 of them have been embodied by SCI or EI and excerpted by authors in Journal of Electronics and Journal of Software. 2.64 theses by each senior professional of technology are published each year. 2 academic monographs have been published, 8 textbooks have been edited and 3 ministerial publications on teaching have been awarded. 7 items have been identified and the college have also undertaken 17 scientific research items among which 5 are science foundation subjects from the province and the educational bureau.
        The College of Information has 4 undergraduate specialties: Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Information Management and Information System and Electronic Commerce. Among them, the Specialty of Information Management and Information System is a famous specialty of Guangdong province.
