The College of Accounting, with its predecessor the Department of Financial Accounting established in 1983, is one of the earliest founded teaching units of GUBS. It has three undergraduate specialties: accounting, financial management and auditing. The specialty of accounting, as a famous specialty in Guangdong, has the power to award the master’s degree. Now the College has over 1,500 undergraduates.
        The college has a staff of 50, among whom there are 9 professors, 14 associate professors, 7 doctoral degree holders and 5 PHD candidates. The teaching staff is high-qualified, well-structured, young and lively. The college has been attaching great importance to scientific research with the aim to improve teaching and a lot of achievements have been achieved. Since 2001, the college has undertaken 68 teaching and scientific research projects, among which 9 are provincial projects, 37 are department or ministry projects and 22 are collegiate projects. The college has had over 300 academic theses published, among which half have been published in key journals.
        A series of productions have been achieved on teaching reform. The college has published a series of teaching materials on the specialty of accounting which meet the demands for practical teaching and have special features. It has also formed the specialty teaching system which integrates theoretical teaching and practical teaching: basic theoretical teaching--- handwrought simulant experiments--- teaching on the specialty--- computer simulant experiments--- intramural synthetical emulational experiments--- outside practice on the spot. This system lays foundation for training compound professionals on financing and accounting of great practical ability. Graduates from this college are thought highly of by employers for they can adapt themselves to the society very well and are practically capable.
